Website Fixer-Upper

The websites of our current internet world look nothing like those from a few years ago. It’s important to spruce up and update websites every year or so.

I was freelanced to update an outdated website for a recruiting company in my hometown, JR-Research Inc.

Before

Issues:

  • Difficult to read company name in logo

    • And minimal brand recognition

  • Images overlapping, unappealing color palette

  • Minimal contact information on homepage

  • Out-of-date features since it hadn’t been updated for 5 years

After

Solutions:

  • Clearly displayed company name and new slogan

  • Created a cohesive color scheme to entice visitors

  • Clearly displayed location, phone number, and email

  • Modernized design and repaired broken links/features

The Process

Finding a new theme

Updating the theme was the first step in developing a more modern website for JR-Research. The previous website was difficult to navigate and unappealing to clientele seeking vital information. A modern version provided an inviting environment that encouraged users to stay on the website longer and promote the company to others.

Making things concise

JR-Research’s mission to help people find their forever careers became more clear with a new slogan: Advance Your Career, Advance Your Life. Not only did this build a stronger relationship with clientele, but it also solidified their brand image. Slogans are motivating features that encourage users to lean towards companies aligned with their mission.

Providing Accessible Features

Accessibility is the key to any website, and as technology evolves, features lose longevity. In JR-Research’s previous website, features were no longer working due to its outdated state. What may have worked 5 years ago, no longer did and caused major issues for users. We focused on ensuring features would have longer lifespans and put a system in place for the owner to regularly test features to ensure their functionality.

Spring cleaning websites is vital for businesses to grow and maintain their clientele base.
