Building skills one block at a time…
Participating in hackathons, attending workshops, and creating personal projects have had the most impact on building my wide range of skills.
TechTogether Seattle Hackathon: ConnectVR
My first hackathon was TechTogether Seattle, hosted virtually during the pandemic. I and three others created a virtual reality education space to allow teachers to teach students directly as if they were in person. We created this project in just about 24 hours and won 2 awards. We utilized Unity, echoVR, Brackets, and Google Sites.
ConnectVR was one of the most challenging and exciting projects I have done to date. We were recognized by the company, echoAR, and the judges, as the “Best AR/VR Hack” and awarded the “Ultimate Failed Hack” due to our ambitious dreams. My team stepped out of our comfort zone by creating a virtual reality project, and none of us had experience in this field before. Though we may not have completed an entirely successful project in 24 hours, we learned about product management, various coding platforms, and, most importantly - perseverance! We ran into several roadblocks since we were venturing into unknown territory, but in the end, our dedication and drive not to give up helped us accomplish something great.

Continuous Development
Currently, I'm actively pursuing my Google UX Design certification, striving to stay at the forefront of the latest UX practices. This comprehensive certification has equipped me with invaluable insights, with the completion of the initial segment, "Foundations of User Experience (UX) Design." The course comprises seven parts, each featuring four modules that encompass hands-on activities and informative video lessons.
