My name’s Alexis and I use she/her pronouns.

I grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in a quaint beach-side neighborhood. The beach itself inspires me in a lot of ways. Many of my designs subtly incorporate the features of my favorite place on earth.

I recently graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Computer Science (with distinction) and a minor in French from the University of Virginia. Before attending UVA, I studied for a year and a half at Old Dominion University. I transferred as it has always been my dream to attend UVA.

As a recent UVA grad, I’m looking to make an impact in a dynamic and creative role (UX, product design, multimedia production, mobile app/web dev, or audio engineering). I hope to dedicate my skills to developing accessible, user-friendly experiences that engage audiences. I want to help create interactive workspaces that transform our online world. I have such a diverse skillset and a wide-range of interests. I love creating marketing designs, developing websites, and connecting with as many people as possible. My passion for podcasts and sound design has also taught me the importance of sharing voices and storytelling.

Cliché warning! Ever since I saw the classic film, Ratatouille in theaters with my kindergarten class, I have been in love with French culture. I decided to pursue a minor in French because I am genuinely passionate about connecting with the culture's language, history, and people. Communicating with others is how we grow as a society. I hope to learn more than French in the years to come. I’m currently learning Italian on Duolingo!

Learning languages is one of my main passions, and I find it relates to Computer Science more than people think. Learning languages and computer languages are not very different from one another. Listen to me talk about this in one of my podcast episodes on The Guillemets Project.

I am a huge Marvel fan and could probably recite more quotes than I care to admit. Some of my favorite characters include Spider-Man, Ant-Man, and Wanda Maximoff.
